Terms and Conditions

Design:

We offer a bespoke service and an either design a cake specifaclly to suit your theme or we can work with a design youve fallen in love with.  We cannot guarantee a 100% colour match, however we will aim to match any colours you request as closely as possible.  We reserve the right to change the design at any point, if circumstances are beyond our control or may compromise the quality of the fish but you will always be consulted on any significant change.

Any request to change the collection or delivery date after booking will be considered and accommodated if possible.

Personal taster consultations are available only for wedding cakes where up to three flavours will be offered for tasting after an initial discusion regarding the type of cake you require and an idea of cost has been communicated.

Special Dietary Requirements:

If you have requested a cake for special dietary needs please note that these cakes are made in the same kitchen, using the same (well cleaned) equipment as my standard cakes and a kitchen where nuts and other allergens are present and used in some recipes. Every effort will be made to ensure these cakes are free from the relevant allergens but it should be noted that Mrs Macs Cakes is not responsible for any allergic reactions due to our kitchen having contact with milk, wheat, nuts, soy and other allergens.  Allergen information is clearly displayed on the cake box and delivery information.

Payment:

Mrs Macs Cakes asks for a small non refundable deposit to secure the booking in our diary and until this deposit is received no diary space is reserved.  The balance for celebration cakes is then paid in cash or pre cleared bank transfer on the day of collection or delivery. For wedding cakes a deposit of £50 is required to secure your special date in our diary and the balance is paid in full two weeks before delivery date.

Delivery/collection:

Delivery is usually available for an additional charge of 45p per mile (HMRC standard rate) plus delivery and set up time.  Collection is from 71 Silver Lane, West Wickham, BR4 0RX.

Once the cake has been collected from the premises, Mrs Macs Cakes are not responsible for any damage to the cake (or in the case of delivery once set up is complete).  You are responsible for transporting the cake safely which is in a flat position in the boot or footwell of the car.  We strongly advise you not to transport on a lap or on the seat.

Storage:

Decorated cakes should not be stored in a refrigerator. If the cake is not to be displayed straight away, it should be stored in the box in a cool room, away from moisture and out of sunlight, somewhere where it will not be moved or knocked.  Ensure the table you display your cake on is not in direct sunlight.

Shelf Life

Decorated rich fruitcakes will keep for several months, but sponge cakes should ideally be consumed within 3 days of the event.

Cutting and serving

Cakes need to be cut with care, particularly fruitcakes and carrot cakes which can crumble if not handled carefully.  Use a long bladed serrated saw knife, which must be SHARP - ornamental cake cutting knives used for photos are usually nowhere near sharp enough. Use a clean damp cloth to clean and moisten the blade between each cut - this will help stop the knife dragging on the cake crumb. Use a sawing action with the serrated blade -don't just push the knife downwards - and make sure to cut all the way to the base board. Please try to avoid wrapping individual pieces of cake with serviettes as this will immediately start to dry the cut cake out as the paper draws out the moisture from the cake.

Non-Edibles

The cake may include non-edible decorations, which must be removed before the cake is cut and served, such as wired sugar flowers, fresh flowers, models, internal supports etc. If being cut at a venue, PLEASE ENSURE that items are removed with care and retained for the customer to keep if required - this is especially important with fragile sugar flowers or modelled figure toppers, which are usually intended as a keepsake.  All inedible items will be identified to the customer collecting or taking delivery of the cake.  It remains the clients responsibility to inform the venue/caterers of the inedible items and Mrs Macs Cakes takes no responsibility for any harm that may arise from their use.

Images

Mrs Macs Cakes will take photographs of our cakes and we reserve the right to use any photographs for display or promotion without any compensation to you.

Not totally satisfied?

In the extremely unlikely event that you are not satisfied with your order please contact me straight away on 07801 337056 to discuss in the first instance.  In any event, any cut surfaces of cake must be wrapped in clingfilm and the cake/s returned in the cake transportation boxes, within 24 hours of the event for investigation.  Decisions would be on a case by case basis, but it is highly unlikely any refund would be offered where less than 75% of the original order is returned.
